Sweet Lady May (1).jpg

Incredibly over the last couple of years I've released two singles which have been released by Perry Road Studios.

Nothing particularly new about that you may thnk, apart from the fact that I'm 69 and one of the songs was written 42 years ago!!

It all came about because I present a radio show on a community station called Black Cat Radio. I played a couple of tracks recorded by Gilly Lee, a fellow presenter. It transpires that as well as being a singer song writer she also owns a recording studio. I said to her in passing that as a young man I always dreamed of recording my own songs. She replied ‘Why don’t you?’.

I laughed but she insisted that I send a couple of songs over. After a fair amount of persuasion, I bit the bullet and emailed two across. These are songs I wrote back in the 70s!  She contacted me and said her producer Greg Stephenson wanted me to record one of the songs at the studio. I was staggered.

To cut a long story short that's just what we've done and Greg has done a wonderful job producing the songs. So, I'm delighted to announce that my songs 'Am I Allowed' and  'Sweet Lady May' are available on Spotify, Amazon itunes etc

Who knows, I may be the first 69 year old to make number one! I doubt it very much but it’s been fun. The great thing is I'm living a young man's dream as an old man in his dotage.

Since retirement from the day job I've had a fantastic life,  publishing three novels, recording a single as well as presenting 'The 70s Album Show' first on the BBC and now on Black Cat radio. It just shows that nobody should ever give up on their dreams.
